Our Story
We Are
MAC Eyewear
Not just another eyewear distributor. We're obsessive curators of the world's most exciting, vibrant, and individual frames — brought exclusively to independent opticians who dare to be different.
Born from a passion for the extraordinary
Established in 2005, Mark had been working in sales to independent opticians for 10 years — but had grown increasingly frustrated by his employers' decisions to allow the chains, up to and including supermarkets, to buy their products. So one spring evening, MAC Eyewear was born.
Fully owned by Mark (A) Carpenter — hence the MAC — the company has continually looked to strengthen its portfolio of unique, individual and fabulous eyewear. Our remit is to provide independent opticians with eyewear that is individual and that will differentiate them from the mainstream. Collections are often handmade, bespoke with iGreen, and either eco-friendly or eco-aware — globally sourced and crafted from extraordinary materials such as mother of pearl, feathers, leaves, carbon fibre, and pure titanium.
Over the last few years, Mark's wife Tatyana has been instrumental in the new direction for the company — re-focused on marketing and with a huge impact on everything we do. Thank you, Tatyana.
Joined by Helen Halpin in 2024 as a junior partner, MAC Eyewear continues to evolve and seek out fresh and innovative collections. New for 2026: MAC Colour, David Green & mOOnstone, Pier Martino, Lara D', and the return of Seiko eyewear — completing a portfolio that now covers every major market segment.
And to continue our journey, we have returned to the start. Over 30 years ago, Mark and Helen met in their first jobs in optical sales, selling Pure & Beta Titanium frames. The portfolio is now complete. Amazing frames in every major segment.

Our Journey
MAC Eyewear is born. Mark (A) Carpenter — frustrated by the big brands selling to supermarkets — launches a company with one simple mission: extraordinary frames, exclusively for independent opticians.
The colour revolution begins. Rip Curl arrives and sets the tone for everything MAC would become — bold, vibrant, unapologetically individual. Colourful eyewear, done properly, since day one.
InFace joins the portfolio — proving early on that MAC's taste for the unconventional wasn't a fluke, but a philosophy. Mark continues to push boundaries within the portfolio, launching BOZ and JFR, frames with extreme WOW factor.
Coco Song lands — arguably the most theatrical collection MAC has ever carried. Part frame, part wearable art.
Outspoken enters the scene. The name says it all. For practices who refuse to blend in and patients who want a frame that speaks before they do.
Ronit Fürst launches — handpainted, unique, and instantly iconic. Each frame is a one-of-a-kind canvas. If 2008 started the colour revolution, 2016 perfected it.
Helen Halpin joins as junior partner, bringing fresh energy, sharp instincts, and a renewed drive to find the next great collection before anyone else.
The portfolio reaches its peak. Lara D', Seiko, and Pier Martino join the family — completing a lineup that now covers every taste, every face, every independent optician's dream frame wall.
